Properly peaking, VPSA (low pressure adsorption vacuum desorption) oxygen production is another "variant" of PSA oxygen production, their oxygen production principle is almost the same, and gas mixture is separated by the difference in the ability of molecular sieve to "adsorb" different gas molecules. But PSA oxygen production process is through pressurize adsorption, atmospheric pressure desorption to separate oxygen. The VPSA process of oxygen production is to desorption saturated molecular sieve under vacuum conditions.
Although both are based on air as raw materials, the principle of oxygen production is similar. But in careful comparison, there are the following differences;
1. The VPSA oxygen generator uses a blower to obtain raw air and pressurize it, while the PSA oxygen generator uses an air compressor to supply gas.
2, In the core component - zeolite molecular sieve selection, PSA oxygen generator uses sodium molecular sieve and VPSA oxygen generator uses lithium molecular sieve.
3. The adsorption pressure of PSA oxygen generator is usually 0.6~0.8Mpa, and the adsorption pressure of VPSA oxygen generator is 0.05Mpa and the desorption pressure is -0.05Mpa.
4, PSA single plant gas production capacity can reach 200~300Nm³/h, and VPSA single plant gas production capacity can reach 7500~9000Nm³/h.
5, VPSA relative to PSA, is low energy consumption (production of 1Nm3 oxygen power consumption ≤ 0.31kW, oxygen purity 90%, without oxygen compression), and more environmentally friendly.
6, According to the oxygen production, energy consumption standards and investment to selection PSA process or VPSA process.
VPSA oxygen generator although the single plant oxygen production capacity is large, but its deficiency is that the system equipment is more complex, the volume of the equipment is larger (compare with the cryogenic device is still smaller), supporting and utilities conditions are more required, will occupy a larger space, generally can’t be made into container form. And it need on-site installation, commissioning, from this point alone. PSA has some advantages.
